Hi Laura,
I told Sally, our therapist, about how you and I have been writing back and forth, and how relieved we are that we can write to you openly about how the dolls you are making are for our littles. Sally talked a little about how "this doll thing" is giving us a lot of joy as well as comfort. When we have a new stuffed animal or doll, our littles always show Sally at the beginning of our session, and she holds the doll or teddy bear, and our littles watch her and think "oh, that what it looks like when a baby is held, gentle and caring."
With three young children, I am amazed at the dollmaking you accomplish. I feel kind of greedy, but what I really want is to have my dolls on your list, if you feel comfortable planning a ways ahead.
I love the idea of a dark green velour. If when you are in the celtic tourist shop, if you see a handkerchief with some celtic embroidery on it, perhaps it could be used for the apron? just a thought.....
I like the idea of an apron, bloomers, ribbon, and shawl. But it would be nice to have a way that the shawl could be attached in the front. Maybe a button?
It would be amazing if you found a doll-sized bodhran.
I need to get better at putting pictures on the computer.
Sometimes when littles are on the surface, we can't figure out how to use the telephone, much less how to post photos. Having skills separated by dissociative barriers in the brain can make things interesting....
While I was writing this, I got a phone call from my surgeon's nurse. It looks like I am going to have surgery to have screws taken out of my right foot in April, and then major foot and ankle reconstruction on my left foot and ankle in August.
A year ago, we had reconstruction surgery on our right foot and ankle.
We are not looking forward to this. Littles are scared.
We will comfort ourselves with dolls.
til later...
hugs,
Carole
